About Me

I'm a very meticulous, adventurous and creative person fueled by coffee and jelly beans. Passionate about the web and all things digital. Cycling, snowboarding and sailing keep me from falling to the dark side. I'm also a Father of two daughters who are just as crazy as me.

Experience.

Utility Warehouse

May 2023 - Present

Software Engineer

uw.co.uk

Working as a front end software engineer for both customer facing and internal/back office projects that utilise technologies such as Next.js, React and GraphQL.

This role has really allowed me to explore outside of my comfort zone and learn more about the infrastructure side of things like Kubernetes and Docker for releasing and deploying web apps.

The SolaVerse

March 2022 - March 2023

Senior Front End Developer

thesolaverse.com

I fancied something a little different so I've switched to a client-side based role in Web3. As a Front End Developer at The SolaVerse I design and develop modern interactive web pages and user interfaces using technologies such as Laravel, Vue, Inertia and React.

Since starting I've had fun learning all about Web3, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Blockchain, Solidity Contracts and Wallets. I've developed a mini marketplace where users can purchase Ship Skins. I redesigned and developed a new minting page for the Companions NFTs. I built a new interactive star themed roadmap.

I redesigned a new user interface for user accounts with the aim of simplifying tasks and modernising the look and feel.

Unfortunately the crypto market took a bit of a tumble and sadly the company could no longer afford to keep me on.

Strawberrysoup Ltd (Eleven Miles)

March 2016 - December 2019

Web Developer / Digital Marketing Specialist

elevenmiles.com

Strawberrysoup was a former company of the Sideshow Group (now named Eleven Miles) that specialised in e-commerce websites for FMCG brands. My responsibilities were split between development and marketing. Working closely with all other departments on projects to ensure SEO, UX and CRO best practices were considered at every stage.

Projects mostly consisted of Wordpress and Woocommerce development using PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, SASS, NPM, and Gulp. Larger projects like KFC warranted a more agile way of working using JIRA for weekly sprints and kanban with a dedicated PM/scrum master.

Since Strawberrysoup was part of the Sideshow Group (now named Eleven Miles), I often collaborated on projects with other agencies in the group like Thinking Juice, Vertical Leap and Sideshow (Eleven Miles). Projects like Cambridge Audio, Badger Beers, Vintage Roots, Arts University of Bournemouth and Williams Jet Tenders.

Other responsibilities included devising digital marketing strategies for all recurring and new digital marketing clients. Proactively troubleshooting technical and strategic issues for all digital marketing clients when they arise. Provide daily support for the marketing team. Work with new business team for prospect insight and competitor analysis when required. Technical site audits, benchmarking, site migrations, tracking and data analysis.

Protected.co.uk

February 2016 - March 2016

Working closely with designers and the marketing department, whilst being a part of a growing development team that care strongly about quality and continual improvement of internal applications.

Using the Foundation front end framework, NPM, SASS and Grunt. Small amounts of PHP coding when necessary in a ZF2, MySQL and Apache environment whilst using Git and GitHub for version control.

I was at Protected for one week before the company announced they were going into liquidation and made everyone redundant, such is life.
